SHORT CV

Alexandre Velhinho earned his Ph.D in Materials Science – Composite Materials – from Nova School of Science and Technology, where he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Materials Science Department.

There, he teaches courses on Mechanical Behaviour of Materials, Composite Materials, Materials Processing Technologies and the role of Materials on Sustainability. Also, he mentored over 50 Bachelor, Master and PhD students.

His scientific activity delves on hybrid / heterogeneous materials. He has published works on Functionally Graded Composites fabricated through different techniques (Centrifugal Casting, Friction-Stir Processing, Accumulative Roll-Bonding). His current focus is on Cellular Structural Metamaterials (Auxetics and Anepectics) obtained through Additive Manufacturing processes.
