i3N was rated "Excellent", the highest grade awarded by FCT.

 

As stated by the Evaluation Panel: «The scientific excellence is outstanding, as also indicated by 11 European Research Council (ERC) grants earned by their researchers (2 advanced, 2 consolidators, 2 starting and 5 POC) and the large numbers and high-quality publications (e.g. Advanced Materials, Nature Reviews, etc.). (...) Overall, an outstanding unit with impressive scientific, technological and educational achievements.»
